Washing kitchen vessels / utensils is not only a dreaded job but also boring too. It is advisable to segregate the types of utensils, where some are made of ceramics, glass, fibre, non-stick wares, steel and sometimes brass. It is easy to wash it off and also can avoid breaking the delicate ones.
Cleaning Silverware
- Always cover the silverwares and silver cutleries with a cloth and store in (carton) box.
- Don't wash the silver wares/cutleries for too long time as the silver-plating will be go off soon and it will become blackish.
- Use a diluted dishwashing liquid or soft dishwashing detergent or powder.
- Wipe with a soft cloth after washing to dry it.
- Always use few drops of vinegar to wash away the sticky oily substance.
Stainless Steel Cutlery
- It is usually highly resistant to corrosion and rust. So, always keep them clean in a dry place.
- Avoid using Stainless Steel in direct flame/heat as it stains soon.
- Never use vinegar for more times and too long time as the salt present in vinegar cause discoloration of the ware.
- It is advisable using dishwashing liquid to wash/clean the cutlery.
Copper Vessels
- Copper is a good conductor of heat. It heats up and cools down very soon. So, always use copper vessels in low flame/heat.
- When using the copper vessels, the vessel should not be empty over the flame.
- It is advisable using copper vessels coated with stainless steel or silver.
- It is easy to clean/wash the vessel when it is in luke warm. It is advisable using dishwashing powder/liquid with soft scrubbing, as the hard scrub may cause scratches on the surface.
- Wipe with a soft cloth after washing to dry it.
Non-stick Cook wares
- Always use non-stick cook wares on low flame/heat.
- Use wooden ladles when cooking with non-stick wares as it avoids scratching the surface.
- Wash/clean the utensil with soft, diluted dishwashing liquid with soft scrub whereas the hard detergent and hard scrub may peel off the coating
Porcelain/Ceramic/Glass/Bone-china wares
- Avoid using the above wares until it is necessary.
- Avoid using the above wares in micro-wave oven as they are metallic coated.
- Avoid using the above wares over direct/high flame or heat.
- When washing, handle with great care, use soft washing detergent/liquid.
- It is important to wipe with a soft cloth after washing to dry it.
